Why does Roblox hold Pending Robux?

Roblox holds Pending Robux to allow time for refunds and payment reversals. If a buyer requests a refund or a payment is charged back, Roblox can recover the Robux before it reaches your spendable balance. Once the hold period ends, the Robux becomes Earned Robux and is available to spend, transfer, or exchange through DevEx.

Hold periods by sale type

Different sale types have different hold periods reflecting the associated refund risk. Game Pass and Developer Product sales have a shorter window (~5 days) while Marketplace items and local currency subscriptions have a longer 30-day hold.

Direct transfers

Robux sent via direct transfer are available immediately after the recipient accepts — there is no pending period. However, these Robux are not DevEx-eligible for the recipient.

What is Pending Robux?

Pending Robux is Robux you have earned but that is not yet available to spend or exchange. Roblox holds newly earned Robux for a period to allow for refunds and chargebacks before releasing it to your account.

Why is my Pending Robux hold different from what I expected?

Hold periods vary by sale type. Game Pass and Developer Product sales have approximately 5 days, while Marketplace items and local currency subscriptions have 30 days. The 'approximately' wording means actual timing may vary slightly from the published figure.

Can I speed up the Pending Robux release?

No. The hold period is set by Roblox and cannot be accelerated. Direct Transfers are the exception — those become available immediately after the recipient accepts.

When does the hold period start?

The pending period begins at the time of the sale or transfer event, not when you check your balance.

What can I do with Pending Robux?

Nothing until it releases. You can view your pending balance in the Roblox Creator Dashboard under Earnings, but you cannot spend, transfer, or exchange pending Robux until the hold period ends.
